How time flies so fast… I was seven then… and today, it’s been twenty-two years since my dad passed away.
I am quite emotional today… probably, I miss my dad. Sadly, I only have short memories of him… He taught me how to cook rice, he brought me my favorite ripe mangoes, lanzones and box of Nips chocolate everytime he went home from work. Even I was still little, he kept on promising me that he’ll buy me that beautiful watch we saw at a shopping mall when I reached eighteen. I did hold on to that promise… but instead, I fulfilled it for myself.
My dad had always had high expectations of me…I knew that ever since and probably one of the main reasons why I did all I can to achieve my dreams. I hope I made him happy with the choices I made, with the person I become, and the life I chose to live. May he enjoy his life in heaven. Love you dad...
Excerpt from Our Daily Bread article God is Good, March 17
When we experience tragedy, we may wonder about God’s goodness. Is God always good? Yes, He is. He doesn’t promise that bad things will never happen to us, but He does promise to be “our refuge and strength” (Ps. 46:1). He doesn’t promise that we will never walk through heart-wrenching circumstances, but He promises that we won’t be alone (23:4).
