Art & Goodbye Summer

With so many things that happened this month, it just dawned to me that vacation is almost over! With less than a week, Reese will be going to her new school as Kinder 2 (equivalent to Prep).

Aside from the 2 swimming getaways, several indoor pool splashing, weekend dining out, malling, and weekly grocery, Reese spent most of her summer days at home. So how did we manage to keep her occupied? Here are the things that helped us with that.

6th year Anniversary - In the City

This year celebration is different from last year, there was no flight or hotel booked this time. No, I’m not complaining. We’ve gone through a lot for the past 2 weeks and all I ever wanted is for hubby to be well and my prayer was granted. We spent the day together happily :)

Our day started with attending mass (our first time) at the Shrine of St. Therese in New Port Pasay, mass was at 12 noon.

the most beautiful colored glass church windows I've seen

Next stop was at the New Port Mall, we had lunch at Recipe (our first time). Food was just okay, everything we ordered tasted sweet, even the mixed seafood dish.

Did some strolling at the mall, shopped a little and saw the Casino from afar. The place was nice, but quite small. Can’t help to compare it with Macau, but really, it was nice.

Third stop was at Bonifacio High Street, Taguig. Went malling, took a break at a coffee shop and I was even able to squeeze in a haircut at Market-Market. And just before leaving the place, he got his gift for me.

Last stop was for dinner, our first time too at L’Incontro Ristorante Italiano. The ambiance was romantic, perfect for our special day.

I did like the food that we had (lobster soup, sirloin steak, black pasta frutti di mare and four cheese pizza), the dessert (molten chocolate cake with gelato) was average but that was just it. If only I could eat there everyday, I will, I just love Italian food!

Afterwards, we went home still raving about our delightful dinner and with me carrying 2 shopping bags.  To my better half, thanks so much, I enjoyed spending so many first times with you that day, “sa uulitin”, love you a bunch!

Thanksgiving Saturday

After a week-long battle with sickness and another week of recovery, hubby is now doing well.  Finally, everyone in the family is healthy, time for a little thanksgiving celebration!

So last Saturday, we had lunch at Café Juanita in Pasig.  Just upon arriving, I already knew that I would like the resto, and I did.  We had “kare-kare”, “sugpo sa gata” and “bagnet” with white rice.  For dessert, we tried cassava cake.  Everything taste good, and my favorite dish from Café Juanita would be “kare-kare”, it’s simply the best among those that I’ve tried (Maimee’s & Mannangs).

No photos of the food, my bad…. I don’t know but I’m still not into the habit of taking pictures of food yet, maybe next time.  For now, here’s what I could share, photos of us.

happy Reese

We thank God for making our family all healthy once again :)

Parking

Just want to note how my parking skill is being tested nowadays. I was able to park really close to the wall with the challenge of not hitting the plant box at the rear-end, oha! It took me 3 outside actual checks to finally hit it right! Oh well, just my way of staying positive despite of the mishaps... I have so much to be thankful for so stress me not!

Not An Overdrive

I've learned how to drive from a driving school 5 years ago. At first, I used to drive on our way to my office 3 times a week until I got so lazy to drive that I no longer do it regularly. Reason, hubby is already there to drive most of the time and it's so convenient to just seat back and look outside the window. I only drive when hubby is away (just to go to the grocery or nearby malls) or like in this case, he got sick and I need to bring him to the ER.

A piece of unsolicited advice to my lady friends, given the chance, we must really learn how to drive. The first route to take on is the nearest hospital so that we can bring loved ones when needed. Also, it would help to locate the nearest drugstore in case the one that they have in the hospital is closed or doesn't have the medicine that you need.

Then, next route to learn should be the Church, followed by the grocery, and the nearby mall for convenience.

Of course, you can just try calling a cab. But how convenient that can be to wait for them and at the same time, deal with them? If you have even just 1 car, why not learn how to drive? For me, it's like a bicycle that you instinctively know how to use no matter how long you haven't driven it. I just did!

P.S. As of this writing, hubby is not yet fully okay... I hope he would feel better soon. I'm not so happy driving on my own. It was just short distances like 15-20 minutes, but I'm not liking it. Maybe, driving is not just my thing. So, this skill is just usefuI when I am left with no choice but to do so!

ER

From Wednesday last week to Tuesday this week, can't imagine that I've been to ER five times! 3 out of 5 I was driving coz hubby got sick :(

I always tell myself (and even my friends) that it's good to know how to drive so that I am equipped when it's needed. But I never thought that I would need to drive this much coz family members got sick. First it was Reese, then she went okay after 2 days. Then hubby came next. Both of them were brought to the Cardinal Santos ER.

Then here comes Tuesday when I thought Reese was fully okay, but she had rashes. So we brought her to pedia's clinic in Lourdes Hospital. It was a weekday, a lot of med-reps were there so parking was full. Good thing I know where to go. I dropped off Len & Reese at the entrance, and found a parking spot near MIL's house, then, commute back to the hospital for 2 minutes. A pat on the back for the brave lady who knows how to navigate in times like this!

Now, I'm writing because I'm waiting. Hubby is back to the ER and was given IV once again to hydrate him. No findings yet as to why the antibiotics didn't seem to work. I wish we both know why. For now, all we can do is to patiently wait for the 2nd round of lab results. Until when, I don't know. I'll grab something to eat now. Better take care of my needs so that I can take care of hubby's.

Update: He got confined in the hospital, findings were leading to two illnesses. I hope and pray for his fast recovery. I'll be out of the office for the rest of the week.
